Free radicals, created during nutrition, damage cells in our bodies and has a critical role in severe illnesses such as neoplasia. Antioxidants are in use nowadays to prevent this and to clinch these free radicals. These antioxidants are mainly Vitamin C and E, beta-carotene and selenium. The following also have significant antioxidant effects: glutation-acids, ginkgo biloba, zinc and Q10. With beta carotene, the body reproduces Vitamin A which has a critical role for the health of skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. It also has an effect on the eyes, respiratory tracks, heart and other organs and also helps the healing of scars. Vitamin E provides the body with oxygen and increases its resistance against illnesses, helps prevent a thrombosis by dissolving gouts. It’s widely know that Vitamin C boost the immune system and also takes a part in the health of bones, veins and teeth. It also helps the healing of scars, increases the absorption rate of iron and decreases cholesterol levels. Selenium (among other antioxidants present) helps to slow down aging, together with Vitamin E they help each other’s work. Men need more selenium than women.
